+ Points :
  • Nice campus.
  • Too good infrastructure.
  • Research oriented study.
  • Highly qualified faculty.
  • Strong interaction between students sharing knowledge and experiences.
  • Rated top Educational institute in India several times by various organizations both at UG and PG level.
  • Placements are good

Some things to look for :
  • Fifty percent reservation for T.N. students. Students with as low as 1500 rank with state quota getting into it. Being in the far south, and majority of students from native state outsiders may find it difficult to adjust in the beginning.
  • north indians may find difficut to adjust with the food given

In All India General Quota Last seat was filled at Rank 32 (all india open category)
Total seats 92 with 46 open for ALL INDIA level.

Placed second by most of students, but not according to my review. Located in Andhra Pradesh. Organized NIMCET 2007.

  • Near to IT City, Sikandarabad (Hyderabad).

Some things to look for :
  • Placements below average placements of Surathkal.
  • i won't advice anyone to chose warrangal coz' although course curriculum is exellent but what matters is the placements
  • best for b.tech studs

MODE OF EXAMINATION

The NIMCET examination will be for a duration of two and a half hours and consists of 120 multiple choice questions with four choices for each question. Each correctly answered question carries FOUR marks and each wrongly answered question invites NEGATIVE ONE mark. The candidates have to mark the responses in the OMR sheets supplied at the time of examination. Candidates have to bring their own HB pencil, eraser and ball point pen. Calculators, mobile phones or any other materials will not be allowed in the examination hall.
The question paper will contain 120 multiple choice questions covering the following topics:
Mathematics 40 questions
Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning 55 questions
Computer Awareness 10 questions
General English 15 questions





 

 

 

SYLLABUS FOR ENTRANCE TEST:

MATHEMATICS :( 40 questions)
 
Set Theory: Concepts of sets – Union – Intersection – Cardinality – Elementary counting, permutations and combinations Probability and Statistics: Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, measures of central tendencies and dispersions. Algebra: Fundamental operations in Algebra, Expansions, Factorization, simultaneous linear/quadratic equations, indices, logarithms- arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, determinants and matrices. Coordinate Geometry: Rectangular Cartesian coordinates, distance formulae, equations of a line, intersection of lines, pair of straight lines, equations of a circle, parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola. Calculus: Limit of functions, Continuous functions, Differentiation of functions, tangents and normals, simple examples of maxima and minima. Integration of function by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction; Definite integrals, Applications of Definite Integrals to areas. Vectors: Position vector, addition and subtraction of vectors, scalar and vector products and their applications to simple geometrical problems and mechanics. Trigonometry: Simple identities, trigonometric equations, properties of triangles, solution of triangles, heights and distances, General solutions of trigonometric equations.

ANALYTICAL ABILITY AND LOGICAL REASONING: (55 questions)
 
The questions in this section will cover logical reasoning and quantitative aptitude. Some of the questions will be on comprehension of a logical situation and questions based on the facts given in the passage.

COMPUTER AWARENESS: (10 questions)
 
Computer Basics: Organization of a Computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Structure of instructions in CPU, input / output devices, computer memory, back-up devices. Data Representation: Representation of characters, integers and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, Binary Arithmetic: Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple arithmetic and two’s complement arithmetic, floating point representation of numbers, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.

GENERAL ENGLISH: (15 questions)
 
Questions in this section will be designed to test the candidates’ general understanding of the English language. There will be questions on the following topics. Comprehension, Vocabulary, Basic English Grammar (like usage of correct forms of verbs, prepositions and articles), Word power, Synonyms and Antonyms, Meanings of words and phrases, Technical writing.

NIMCET 10

NIMCET is the national level entrance test for admission to Master of Computer Applications at National Institutes of Technology (NITs). 

The Master of Computer Applications (MCA) course is one of the most sought after courses offered in the NITs and has a high job potential in the software houses in India and abroad. The first common admission test, NIMCET-05, was conducted in 2005. About 13,000 candidates appeared for NIMCET-05 for 420 seats available in NITs. Candidates with an aggregate (all subjects put together) of 60% marks (6.5/10 CGPA) in Bachelor’s degree of minimum duration of 3 years from a recognized University in any discipline, with Mathematics as one of the subjects both in graduation and at 10+2 level are eligible.

Eligibility for NIMCET 2010


Indian nationals securing 60% marks or 6.5/10 CGPA (55% or 6.0/10 CGPA for SC/ST) in each of the examinations of (i) 12th level with Mathematics and (ii) bachelor’s degree of full time 3 year duration from a recognized university with any one of (a) mathematics (b) statistics (c) business mathematics (d) discrete mathematics (e) mathematical foundations of computer science (f) business statistics (g) computational mathematics (h) elementary mathematics (i) elementary statistics; as one of the subjects. Those who have done bridge course in mathematics are also eligible to apply. The percentage marks for (i) and (ii) above will be calculated on the basis of method used by respective board/ university. Students completing degree from open universities are also eligible to apply provided their course is approved by UGC/AICTE and distance education council (DEC) of govt of India. The candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply for NIMCET10. Such candidates shall have to furnish the proof of fulfilling the eligibility criteria of NIMCET10 preferably at the time of counseling/admission but not later than 31st July, 2010, failing which, their admission may be cancelled by the respective NITs. The state of eligibility is the state from where the candidates passed/appeared for graduation.
